Emailing your MYOB file to Ross, Cowley & Co.
Some clients who use MYOB software may only need to send us their files once per year and so forget the steps in emailing those to us. The steps to do this in Microsoft Windows are as follows:
1. ‘Backup’ the file from within MYOB.
- a. Have the file you would like to email opened in MYOB.
- b. Choose ‘backup’ from the file menu.
- c. Select ‘Backup Company File & M-Powered Services Centre only and click continue.
- d. The next screen is where you choose where you will backup the file to. For the purpose of emailing the file we recommend choosing the ‘desktop’ by clicking the quick link button on the left. Edit the file name if you wish and click save.
2. Attach the file to an email for sending. Note you need to have a default email program set up on your computer (Outlook, Outlook Express, Etc.).
- a. Locate the backup (zip) file you created in step one. You can minimise everything by holding the windows key and pressing the M key to access the desktop quickly if you saved it there.
- b. Right-click the file and choose ‘Send To’ from the popup menu and ‘Mail Recipient’ from the subsequent popup menu.
- c. A new email window will open up, with the file attached. Now just enter the email address (generally graham@rosscowley.com.au), type any additional information you wish to include in the subject or body of the email and click send.
